Joshua Musler looked down at his hands, caked with a mixture of dirt and sweat, and found himself wanting. His body in his time of need was deserting him, and the plow he held seemed to increase in size and weight as he worked. He had taken a short break, and was just realizing it had been a mistake to do so. Returning to the plow he found his body rebelling, and his young muscles stiffened like those of a much older man. He would have called an end of his day if not for the simple fact he had so much left to do.
His father should have been back by now. The thought echoed in his mind and reverberated throughout his spirit. Joshua couldn’t shake the feeling something bad had happened, and the more he thought about it the more he was sure he was right. The feeling hung with him constantly, and every now and then he found himself looking in the distance searching for the outline of his father. For his diligence he was rewarded with the occasional far-off sighting of riders, seeming to disappear like a mirage when he looked closer.
